Cold Brew Coffee How To
FYI There are a million variations in how to make cold brew coffee! The internet has many different 1) ratios of coffee grounds to water to make cold brew concentrate and 2) dilution ratios (cold brew concentrate to water).
Supplies:
- Container. Jar (quart size or larger), Pitcher, French Press (if you have one laying around), or Cold Brew Maker (if you're fancy).
- Coarse Ground Coffee Beans. (Your favorite STBC Coffee, of course!)
- Water. It's up to you if you use tap water, filtered water, bottled water or other fancy water for making your coffee. (This Barbarian just goes with water straight from the tap.)
- Something to strain with: strainer, cheese cloth, or cold brew bag/ infuser. (Nothing additional is necessary if you happen to use a french press.)
Remember the #4: 1/4 lb of beans to 4 cups of water (if you don't have a scale, shoot for 1:4 ratio)
Method:
- If you haven't ground the coffee beans yet, grind them. :)
- Measure out coffee and water according to the Magic 4 Ratio.
- Pour water into Container of choice.
- Add Coarse Ground Coffee to Container.
- Stir or shake.
- Refrigerate 12-24 hours.
- Strain using straining tool of choice.
- Don't forget to dilute! You now have Cold Brew Concentrate. Unless you are making a coffee beverage that uses Cold Brew Concentrate, you need to dilute with water 1:1.
Don't Forget to Dilute! Dilute your Cold Brew Concentrate 1:1 with water.
